Stephen Eric Leagans

Stephen Eric Leagans, known by many as "Bobcat," left this world on September 25, 2025, in Andrews, Texas. Born on June 29, 1980, in Galax, Virginia (not West Virginia, as he often playfully noted), Stephen lived a life brimming with love, laughter, and an unwavering dedication to his family and community.

As an accomplished oilfield engineer, Stephen was nothing short of a craftsman in his field, combining his knowledge with a strong work ethic that was admired by all who had the privilege to work alongside him. A proud graduate of High School in Grayson County Texas, he carried his educational accomplishments with him throughout his career, continuously seeking to better himself and the world around him.

Beyond his professional achievements, Stephen found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was an avid enthusiast of video poker, enjoyed watching episodes of "American Pickers," and cherished weekends spent at garage sales, auctions, and flea markets. His passion for collecting unique treasures was only overshadowed by the love he had for his family.

Stephen’s heart was a vast reservoir of love, particularly for his beloved wife, Anna, and their cherished children: Ruben Babcock and his wife Lexis, Alex Leagans, and Chris Leagans. His role as a devoted grandfather, or "Haha," to Matthew, Elijah, and Silas Babcock was one of his proudest accomplishments. He delighted in every moment spent with his grandchildren, sharing laughter and wisdom, leaving them with cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

He also remained deeply connected to his roots and his community, giving of himself generously through his involvement with Kairos Outside. Stephen had a profound impact on the lives of those around him, always taking time to uplift others, embodying compassion and kindness.

He is survived by his mother, Wanda Leagans, and his brother Robert, along with sister-in-law Ruth Ann Leagans. Stephen was also blessed with a large and vibrant family, which included his 15 brothers and sisters as well as 29 nieces and nephews who all loved him dearly.

Though he is preceded in death by his father, Franklin Leagans, Stephen's spirit will forever echo in the hearts of those who knew him. As they gather to remember his extraordinary life, the love he shared and the moments they cherished together will continue to shine brightly, a testament to a man whose legacy will endure through the love of family and friends.
