Steven Mel Dushane

Steven Mel Dushane, known to most as Steve, passed away on May 17, 2026, in Odessa, Texas, at the age of 64. Born on March 16, 1962, in Seminole, Texas, he lived a life marked by faith, humor, hard work, and a personality that could make an ordinary day feel like a story worth telling twice.

Steve graduated from Andrews High School and went on to work in the oilfield and later for the Andrews Parks Department. Whether he was out working hard or simply being the guy everybody wanted around, Steve brought the same humous spirit everywhere he went. He knew how to get the job done, but also knew how to make sure the day did not get too serious while it was happening.

Those who knew Steve will remember him as faith-filled, funny, and sarcastic, which is a pretty good combination for a man who could make people laugh without even trying too hard. He enjoyed going to breakfast with his brother and friends, and those mornings were filled with good food, good company, and the kind of conversation that could solve the world’s problems before the coffee got cold. He also loved talking to his daughters regularly and always looked forward to hearing about things going on in their lives and the lives of his grandchildren.

Steve was a Christian and attended City of Refuge in Andrews, where his faith was an important part of his life. He loved the Lord and that faith shaped the way he treated others. He had a way of making people feel welcome, and his sense of humor often showed up right when it was needed most.

He is survived by his daughters, Megan Dushane and Bailey and husband Trent Martin; his mother, Sandy Dushane; his brother, Dwayne and wife Sherry Dushane; 5 grandkids, Kaylin, Karli, Trent, Gracie, and Randy; his nieces, Lindsey and husband Thomas Muldowney and Ashlie and husband Chris Meyers. All from Andrews, Tx.

He is preceded in death by his dad Karl Gene Dushane and his niece Audrey Smart.

He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Though his earthly journey has ended, the memories he created and the laughter he shared will continue to live on in the hearts of his family and friends. Steve Dushane leaves behind a legacy of faith, devotion, and a well-timed joke, which is not a bad way to be remembered at all.
