Thomas M SoRelle

Thomas M. SoRelle, born on January 12, 1949, in Olney, Texas, peacefully passed away on September 1, 2024. A man of quiet genius and boundless curiosity, Tommy's life was a testament to the power of intellect, creativity, and unwavering dedication.

From an early age, Tommy’s brilliance was evident to all who knew him. As a child, he displayed an extraordinary imagination—crafting the classic game Battleship out of cardboard, transforming simple materials into intricate creations. This inventive spirit carried through his entire life, manifesting in a profound love for learning and a deep passion for engineering. He could dismantle any computer and skillfully rebuild it, showcasing a hands-on mastery that left many amazed.

Tommy’s academic journey took him through Odessa College, Dallas College, a school in Houston, and beyond, as he pursued education relentlessly throughout his life. His insatiable quest for knowledge was matched only by his humility and quiet demeanor. He was a shy man, often reserved, but those who delved deeper discovered a sharp wit and a warm character that endeared him to family and friends alike.

Professionally, Tommy made a significant mark as an engineer, dedicating his talents to Toshiba and earning recognition for his expertise across the globe. His work took him to far-reaching places, and his reputation as a skilled engineer was known worldwide. Yet, despite his impressive accomplishments and travels, he remained deeply connected to his roots and cherished the simple joys found in the company of loved ones.

Tommy was more than a brilliant mind; he was a cherished brother and unforgettable character within his family circle. His sisters, Dianna SoRelle, Debbie Harrelson, and Norma SoRelle, along with his brother Steve SoRelle, remember him as the most fun, witty, and loving brother anyone could hope for. Their memories hold a treasure trove of laughter and moments shared with Tommy, the best of the best in every sense.

He is preceded in death by his father, Norman SoRelle; mother, Billie Jo SoRelle; beloved stepmother, Mary K. SoRelle, who lovingly raised him; and brother-in-law Richard Harrelson. Though they have passed on, the legacy of their love and the foundations they helped build will forever be part of Tommy’s story.

Surviving Tommy is a family that holds dear the indelible mark he left upon their hearts—his sisters Dianna, Debbie, Norma, his brother Steve, and a host of nieces and nephews who carry forward his memory with pride and affection.

As we say goodbye to Thomas M. SoRelle, we celebrate a life richly lived: a life of intellect, creativity, humility, and deep familial devotion. Though he was often quietly brilliant, the impact Tommy made resonates loudly in the lives he touched, woven forever into the fabric of those who loved him. His journey may have ended, but his spirit, wit, and kindness will remain with us always.
