Tilda (Stewart) Jones

Tilda (Stewart) Jones, born March 21, 1944, passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, at 81 in Las Cruces, New Mexico where she lived with her daughter and son-In-law Dwight & Jeannette Pope. 

Born and raised in Midland, TX, Tilda enjoyed many friendships and employments until finding her calling as a Certified Nurse's Aide. She loved sharing her faith in Jesus with her patients. She enjoyed attending church and reading the bible and western books by Louis Lamar, until she was no longer able to see well enough to read. She then valued time spent with others reading to her. Playing cards with her daughters and family was always a blast. She was a loving, kind, caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, friend and wife.

She had many travels and 5 wonderful children with her first husband Donald Lee James: Verna Ann, Donna Gail, Frank, Charlotte May and Jeannette Lee. 

She later married Daniel L. Jones and enjoyed many years traveling and living in Midland. Visiting with her children and grandchildren was always a joyous occasion she looked forward to. 

She is survived by her children Frank James (wife Dana), Charlotte Shrum (husband William) and Jeannette Pope (husband Dwight). Also survived by her sister-in-law Cecelia Stewart and grandchildren: Krista, Sarah, Brandon, Raind, Justin and Hope. Along with many great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents Benjamin and Annie Belle (Mary Annie) Stewart, daughter Donna Gail James, Sister Martha Hector, Brother James Eldon Stewart, her husband Daniel L. Jones, and her daughter Verna Ann James.

Burial will be at Serenity Memorial Gardens.
