Verbeth (Beth) Carol (Allen) McLaughlin passed away on Thursday May 29, 2025. She was born in Rotan, Texas on January 31, 1932, to Aaron Voris (A.V.) and Carrie (Schick) Allen.
Beth grew up in Rotan and Roby Texas attending Roby schools and graduating from Roby High. After graduation she attended a secretarial school in Ft Worth, Texas. While attending school she worked as a nanny for the children in the home where she was renting a room. She left Ft. Worth to come back home to Roby to help her parents. In the late 50’s she moved to Midland, Texas to work in the “big city”!! She lived with her sister and a few cousins for awhile and then a few friends as time went on.
In 1959/1960 she had a blind date at Johnny’s Bar-B-Que where she was to meet Tommy McLaughlin. They met and after a few months they started dating. In September of 1961 they were married and began their 64 years of wedded “bliss”! She would teach the 3-year-old Sunday school class at First United Methodist Church in Midland, Texas with her husband for the next 50 years where they would teach the children, the children’s children and a few of the children’s children’s children about Jesus and God.
In 1962 her first daughter was born and then in 1965 her second daughter was born. Beth was a homemaker and mother the rest of her life and was wonderful at it all. She was room mom for both of her daughters through their elementary years. She was their troop leader in Brownies and Girl Scouts and made those years memorable with all the arts and crafts projects she did with them, the many many camping trips and hikes she took them on. All the many meals she taught the troop and sewing projects and especially the first aid kits she helped them make for those not so serious injuries that would eventually happen!
Beth became a grandma in 1989 and would cherish that role for the next 36 years. She was “Mimi” to her two granddaughters and then became “Great Mimi” to her 7 great grands! She taught her 2 granddaughters sewing, cooking, arts and crafts and attempting to play the organ!
Verbeth (Beth) is survived by her daughters, Sharla (McLaughlin) Thompson husband Mark Thompson, Sharon (McLaughlin) Sullivan husband David Sullivan, granddaughters Aly (McLaughlin) Burton husband Josh Burton, Laney Sullivan, great grandkids Avery Burton, Luke Burton, Rori Burton, Royal Burton, Reigni Burton, Kinsley Sullivan and Maverick Sullivan.
Verbeth (Beth) loved God and her family and friends and showed that every day. She was the best mom, Mimi and great-mimi ever and is already missed so very very much.
