Wanda Gean McDonald

Wanda Gean McDonald, 94, peacefully left this world on July 8, 2026. She was formerly from Midland, Texas, but was currently living at Pecan Bayou Nursing and Rehab in Brownwood, Texas. She was born in Cove, Arkansas on February 7, 1932. In 1948, Wanda graduated from Andrews High School where she was nicknamed “Sparkle”. Little known fact – she played tennis and volleyball. She married A.C. “Mac” McDonald in 1959. They raised their children in Andrews then moved to a few other Texas locations (Lake Colorado City, San Angelo area and Cross Plains) before settling in Gardendale until Mac’s death in 2005.

Wanda and Mac were rarely idle for long. They traveled for business, pleasure or just because a vehicle was available. If you could not find them at home, you might check hotels in Laughlin, Nevada. When home, she would be enjoying yardwork, babysitting grandkids, completing Sudoku puzzles or playing computer games.

She loved to sew, quilt and crochet and produced beautiful work. Many friends and relatives were blessed with more than one machine-embroidered item as a gift for special occasions, or for no reason at all. Her daughters did not inherit these talents. There was always plenty of good food ready for visits. The family will always remember and try to recreate her “runny” hamburger and steak ranchero recipes.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her loving parents, J.M. (Joe) and Effie Williamson, and beloved granddaughter, Chandra Lorraine Westfall.

Wanda is survived by her brother, Kenneth Williamson of Avenal, California. She is also survived by her four children: Susan Guerry and husband Tracy of Burnet, TX; Joe McDonald and wife Diane of Allen, TX; Eric McDonald and wife Cindy of Midland, TX; Robin Westfall and husband Chris of Mexia, Texas; eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” Matthew 11:28 (NIV)

Ring the bell – another angel got her wings. (It’s a Wonderful Life, paraphrased)
