It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Ysidro Cortez DeLeon, aged 84, who left this world on January 13, 2026. Ysidro was born on May 15, 1941, in Jourdanton, Texas, to Manuel DeLeon and Soila Cortez.
Ysidro is survived by his beloved wife, Sophia DeLeon, whom he married on December 19, 1987. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his children: Adam DeLeon, Ernest DeLeon, Anita Martinez, Sonia DeLeon, Rosalinda Munoz, and Daniel Hernandez. He also cherished his siblings, Luciano DeLeon, Santos DeLeon, Juanita Logan, Cruz Rodriguez, and Manuela Martinez, along with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his mother, Soila Cortez, father, Manuel DeLeon, and brother, Antonio DeLeon, Ysidro's memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Ysidro's career spanned over three decades in the cotton ginning industry at Foster Gin in Brownfield, Texas, from 1959 to 1993, followed by a role delivering vehicles for Stanley Ford in Andrews, Texas. His work ethic was unmatched, and he was highly respected by those who knew him.
In his leisure time, Ysidro loved spending hours tending to his yard with his loyal chihuahua, Chula, by his side. He enjoyed cozy evenings with Sophia, watching their favorite shows. An avid believer in the power of positivity, Ysidro was determined to have a good day every day. His deep love for family and contentment with the blessings bestowed upon him were defining traits of his character.
Ysidro Cortez DeLeon was not only a hardworking man but also a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be greatly missed, but his spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
